Todd Taylor – Councillor Candidate Town of Orangeville
How long have you been an Orangeville Resident?
I have lived in Orangeville since 2002 and have raised my family here. I have been involved in a wide variety of town events and committees such as the Optimist Club, Library Board, and Mono Nordic Ski Club. My wife and I are proud to have had our children in hockey, dance, and programs at Theatre Orangeville.
What would you change and/or improve in Orangeville?
I do wish that our financial position was not such a difficult one. I think the burden of our taxes has really impacted the ability of young people to start their families here. In addition, those on fixed incomes are having difficulty staying in the town they love. This bothers me greatly and I would love to help change our path.
If you were to receive a million dollar grant for the Town of Orangeville, what would you do with it and why?
My answer is not necessarily exciting. I would prefer to do something that could have a lasting legacy for a long period of time and help a wide variety of groups. I would invest the money in a charitable trust. Each year, I would ensure the fund administered its gains to worthy organization such as Big Brothers, Family Transition, Food Bank, and our hospital.
What is your favourite place in Orangeville and why?
Honestly, I do not have just one place. I love going to Theatre Orangeville. The plays there are simply fantastic. Mochaberry on Broadway is a wonderful place for a Saturday morning coffee. I also love sitting in the stands at the Alder arena watching my son play hockey. Orangeville is for families and sharing special times together. We are fortunate to have many great places to do this.

“I am concerned about the current state of our town especially as it relates to taxes, spending and relationships with others. Residents who watch town council do so simply for the unfortunate spectacle that the meetings have become. If elected to council, I will ensure that professionalism, preparedness, and well thought through ideas become the reason people want to understand what is happening in the town of Orangeville.”
