Sandeep Singh Area Councillor Candidate for Ward 2 (Town of Caledon)
How long have you been a Caledon Resident?
I have been living in Caledon periodically for the better part of a decade. My family has had a farmhouse in Caledon where I spend a lot of time throughout the year. After which I permanently moved to Caledon in late last year.
What would you change and/or improve in Caledon?
We are in a dire need of a better transportation infrastructure. The road conditions are poor and we need to improve them. This not only aids in decreasing travel time which can be spent with family, but also brings in more jobs and helps businesses grow. The transportation infrastructure should also be complimented with better transit. I will solve this problem so everyone can have more family time.
If you were to receive a million dollar grant for the Town of Caledon, what would you do with it and why?
A million dollar for town as big as Caledon is like pennies in a pond. However, since there is an imbalance of services vis a vis population growth, we will use it. We need parks so kids can play and our elders can relax. We need to make sure that there are public washrooms in parks provided for our people. There have to be seating spaces so people can comfortably spend their time. This is particularly the case for Ward 2, where we need these things. And if I get a grant for a million dollars, these things would be my top priority. Having said that, I would like to reiterate; we need to improve services for our growing population. We need high speed internet, we need better transit and driving on certain Caledon roads is a like an off roading experience on a hillock. We need to bring in more funds for the town and we have to use them sustainably.
What is your favourite place in Caledon and why?
Social interactions take place in civic places such as parks, streets and squares. Social interactions make moments and moments create indelible memories. My favourite memories are the ones created in social places such as the neighbourhood parks and streets where I have made friends, chatted with our elders, played with our children. We need to make sure that these friendships keep prospering. Which is why we need to make sure our town also grows with our population.
