Lynn Kiernan Area Councillor Candidate for Ward 1 (Town of Caledon)
How long have you been a Caledon Resident?
I have lived in Ward 1, Caledon, for 55 years, since I was 3 years old. My family had a very small farm on first line west and 20th sdrd. Now Willoughby and Beechgrove. Now we call Inglewood home, and have since 2002.
What would you change and/or improve in Caledon?
Although the place we call home, Caledon, is large in size it does not have to be so separated. I would like to see a more united Caledon, through planning and infrastructure, to benefit everyone. Growth is inevitable, but it is our duty to preserve these lands in a responsible fashion for our future generations. Accountability and transparency is of upmost importance.
If you were to receive a million dollar grant for the Town of Caledon, what would you do with it and why?
Ahhh, $1mm! It sounds like a lot, but in this day it does not stretch as far as it should. It is exciting to see so many new young families in Caledon, but I am concerned for our seniors. I would like to see a concerted effort into planning for our aging population to enable the folks who have spent their life here, paving the way for the rest of us, to be able to continue to live in Caledon with pride and dignity.
What is your favourite place in Caledon and why?
This question goes straight o my heart, Ward 1! From the Credit river, to Shaws Creek, the rolling hills to the verdant farmers field, and the majestic Niagara Escarpment. I am a true nature lover, and have hiked most of the trails in our area and the beauty never fails to astound me. We truly live in paradise and are blessed to call this home.
