John Sprovieri – Mayoral Candidate City of Brampton

Brampton Mayor Candidate, Brampton Municipal Election,How long have you been a Brampton resident?

I came to work in Brampton in 1964 at Ford Motor Co. and moved to Brampton in 1976.

What would you change and/or improve in Brampton? 

Brampton is a great City but we need more employment opportunities for the residents and a Rapid Transit system on Queen Street to connect to the Vaughan subway station.

If you were to receive a 10 million dollar grant for Brampton, what would you do with it and why?

If I received a $10 million dollar grant for the City, I would use it to provide recreational opportunities for the youth that are not active in sports.

What is your favourite place in Brampton and why?

My favourite place in Brampton is the Heart Lake Conservation area, because it is a nature get away from the urban environment.

Biography

Having lived in Brampton’s Wards 9 & 10 for over 41 years with his wife and family, John Sprovieri knows the needs and expectations of his community and its residents.

John has diligently served every neighbourhood in Wards 9 & 10 in the City of Brampton and the Region with passion, dedication, fairness and integrity.

John is a spirited advocate; one who fights for the rights of his constituents with a candid and tireless effort. He works to resolve local issues and strives to fulfill his constituents’ expectations. John represents your issues and concerns with the utmost integrity, openness and with the determination to get the job done. What matters to you, matters to John.

From his early teen years, John has been committed to helping his community. A strong sense of duty, coupled with the importance of giving back to the community was instilled in him by his parents. His dedication to his community is reflected in his involvement as a member and past Treasurer of the Knights of Columbus at the historic St. Patrick’s Church. Additionally, John has volunteered with the Friends of Claireville, working to preserve and enhance the natural heritage of east Brampton. His interest in the environment extends to his serving as a Board Member of the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) and the Greater Toronto Airport Authority (GTAA) Noise and Environment Committee.

John, together with City Council, has successfully met the challenge of utilizing municipal tax dollars responsibly to provide locally desired amenities and services. Additionally, he has worked to attract new residents and businesses to the area with the goal of keeping our local economy strong and thriving. If elected, John will continue to be conscientious, responsible and accountable with taxpayers dollars.
