Our Hotel in Old Quebec City – Hotel Champlain

Our flight and car rental were booked way in advance and a month and a half before our departure, we booked Hotel Acadia for our 4 day stay.

We were excited until 4 days prior to our departure date when we received a phone call from the hotel manager. He informed us that due to an oversight the hotel had been overbooked and that he booked us at another hotel 20 minute drive from Old Quebec. You can imagine our disappointment since we were looking forward to staying in the heart of Old Quebec. As he heard the disappointment in my voice he asked if he can call me back the next day. I have to say, I might have not been the easiest person to deal with and please at that point, however, to my surprise, he worked hard at finding us another hotel near Hotel Acadia that housed similar features. He booked us a 800 sq ft loft room at Hotel Champlain which is equipped with a living room area, full kitchen, queen size bed and an open vaulted ceiling with wood beams for the same price we would have paid for the room at Hotel Acadia. The older part of the hotel, where we stayed, is over 200 years old and is classically decorated with beautiful modern touches and architecture inside and out. The staff is friendly, always carrying a smile and willing to help and answer questions at an instant …. Well maybe not at 5 in the morning :).

At the end of it all I was more than impressed with Hotel Acadia’s manager’s dedication to satisfy us, doing everything he can to make sure we were well taken care of, even if it wasn’t at his hotel. We might not have stayed at Hotel Acadia, but I would fully recommend it as they go above and beyond to satisfy their clients. Both of these hotels definitely deserve ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ ✶ as they display a small town attitude to help one another and do everything they can to please their clients so that they have a wonderful stay and experience.

Hotel Acadia is located in the heart of Old Quebec, only a few steps away from the St-Louis Gate, the Fontaine de Tourny, the National Assembly, the Plains of Abraham and different business centers. It showcases a wealth of stunning architectural features, furnished and decorated in the style of a 19th-century middle-class residence while also providing the luxury of a modern hotel.
