An e-mail from Stephen Lecce – We passed the Keeping Students in Class Act

We made a promise to do whatever it takes to keep students in class.

Today, we kept that promise. We passed the Keeping Students in Class Act.

The education union demanded nearly 50 per cent more in compensation. They demanded to keep 131 paid sick days on top of the best pension and benefits in Canada.

When they didn’t get it, they said they were going on strike.

The education union wouldn’t budge. They wanted to close classrooms.

That’s why we passed the Keeping Students in Class Act.

It makes the education union’s strike illegal. It gives us more tools to keep classrooms open.

Because we will always do whatever it takes to keep kids in class.
