Nando Iannicca Appointed as Regional Chair December 6th 2018

Congratulations to Nando Iannicca who was appointed as Regional Chair today! For those of you who may not know the new Regional Chair he is also the Chair of the Credit Valley Conservation (CVC).

It’s amazing to have someone that has dedicated his time protecting, restoring and managing natural resources of the Credit River Watershed in the position of Regional Chair.

For those who might not know about the CVC below is a bit of a background.

“The CVC is a community-based environmental organization, dedicated to protecting, restoring and managing the natural resources of the Credit River Watershed. Established by the provincial government in 1954, CVC is one of 36 Conservation Authorities in Ontario. As the primary scientific authority for the watershed, CVC works in partnership with municipal governments, schools, businesses and community organizations to deliver locally-based programs.”

NANDO IANNICCA APPOINTED AS NEW REGIONAL CHAIR

Brampton, ON. (Dec. 6, 2018) – The Region of Peel’s 24 Regional Councillors appointed Nando Iannicca as Regional Chair for the 2018 – 2022 term. The election was held by an open vote at the 2018 Inaugural meeting of Regional Council at the Region of Peel headquarters.

“The Region of Peel is a very special institution. What we do, we do well. We are so well-positioned for the future,” said Chair Iannicca after the appointment. “I look forward to working together with Regional Council to ensure that we respond to the needs of Peel region in these challenging times.”

Chair Iannicca is the fifth Regional Chair in the Region’s 44-year history. During his speech, he recognized former Chairs Frank Dale and Emil Kolb, both present in the Council Chamber during the appointment.

Chair Iannicca formerly held the position of Regional Councillor for Ward 7 in Mississauga. He served on numerous boards and committees during his time as Councillor. He is also the proud recipient of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Award for 25 years of volunteer service on such agencies as the Trillium Hospital Foundation, Red Cross, Mississauga Symphony and the Mississauga Food Bank. Nando and his wife Ann Marie are the proud parents of sons Damian and Francis and the family lives in the Huron Park community in Mississauga.

Chair Iannicca is the head of Regional Council and the Chief Executive Officer of the Regional Municipality of Peel. The Chair represents Peel and its residents on matters of Regional interest, provides leadership to Regional Council and presides over Regional Council meetings. The Chair champions Peel’s interests with residents, businesses and other levels of government.
