A Special Moment on The Great Trail

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love the trail and today I got to share a special moment on it.

Trans Canada Trail, Hiking Trails Ontario, Things to See in Caledon, Places to Visit in Caledon,I received a call from my friend Bart, owner of the beautiful Forks of the Credit Inn, about 3 guests that were staying at the Inn … a dad and two daughters from Simcoe, Ontario. The daughters wanted to know where the exact location of the Caledon Pavilion was to bring their 97 year old dad there.

Years ago, the dad had donated to the trail in his fathers memory and wanted to see his name on the pavilion. Without hesitation Chris and I met them on Airport Road and we all walked to the pavilion. On the walk I gave them a bit of history on the trail and how with the help of people like him it has become the longest trail in the world and now fully connected. While at the pavilion I was honoured to present Mr. Thomas W. Post with a Great Trail T-shirt and pin. The smile on his face was contagious and to hear the words “You made my day” priceless.

Although there are thousands of stories about Canadians coming together to make The Great Trail possible I am glad to be a small part of this one.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone ….
