Kiln Ruins Devil’s Pulpit – Caledon Ontario

This afternoon we hiked the Bruce Trail and the Ring Kiln Side Trail to check out the Hoffman Lime Kiln ruins. A great workout up numerous stairs and well worth the uphill hike learning about the history of the Kilns. The kiln was used for burning dolostone to create lime, a vital ingredient for early industrial and agricultural purposes. The Hoffman kiln allowed for a continuous fire as it was transferred from one chamber to another around the oval-shaped structure.
