Smokey Hallow Great Falls Bruce Trail Hike
We definitely had a small group today as some of the ladies from the Take a HIKE – CLHMG cancelled last minute, but I have to say this was one my favourite winter hikes. We parked in the parking lot located on 150 Mill St South in Waterdown and headed straight to see the Smokey Hallow Great Falls flowing from Grindstone Creek. Frozen, covered with snow, the rushing water from these beautiful falls can be heard from the street. Can’t wait to do this hike in the summer as I am sure more ladies will join and enjoy it.
We headed down the Bruce Trail and what may seem as easier moderate trail in summer had easily turn into a harder advanced trail with the slippery snow and ice. It really was quite the workout, but we were glad there were other hikers before us that had left foot prints to lead the way 🙂 At some parts it also seemed as though the paths were cleared by the Bruce Trail volunteers which we were really thankful for.
